Roosevelt Raceway - Freddie Hudson
Harness racing's Billy Haughton and Freddie Hudson collaborate with Victoria Howard in writing the story of Long Islands Roosevelt Raceway, from it's beginning in 1940 to it's end in 1988.
Roosevelt Raceway Where it all began tells the story of the rise and fall of the then world capital of harness racing. It tells of one man George Morton Levy who had a vision that he turned into a reality. He turned a weekend gentleman sport into a major league sport that at the time was considered the fastest growing sport in the United States that involved gangsters, crooked politicians, unions, celebrities and many scandals.
It also consists of stories of top drivers, horses, races and the statistics that made Roosevelt Raceway the number one and most popular harness track in the world.
It is a must read for all Long Islanders.
